I began my career in communications nearly 20 years ago as an account coordinator for a wonderfully funky public relations agency in New York. I knew this exciting world was right for me when on my first day I was asked to transport a $156,000 necklace that used to belong to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis to the client.
After nearly five years at the agency, I moved into financial journalism, having earned my Master's degree from Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism. I started as a reporter covering the Chicago bankruptcy court followed by seven years writing about alternative investments as Editor-in-Chief of both PrivateEquityCentral.net and Hedgefund.net. From there, I transitioned back into public relations on Wall Street as the Vice-President of Financial Media for D.F. King & Co.'s sister agencies Broadgate Consultants and Taylor-Rafferty, where I focused on external communications for alternative investment firms as well as publicly traded clients.
I further enhanced my internal and external communications expertise working as a Senior Manager, Media Relations and Corporate Relations for Allstate Investments, the internal investment manager for Allstate with $85 billion in AUM.
Today, I am hitting my stride as a capital markets communications and media executive with my own communications agency – Cardinal Communications Strategies –where we empower clients with customized, goal-oriented, and hands-on communications expertise. Our capabilities include distilling complicated ideas into digestible key messaging, building bespoke strategic communications plans, conducting actionable research, targeted profile building, strengthening thought leadership, customized content creation, and writing and editing expertise.
